I
take the opportunity of the International Women's Day to let Thierry Robin speak to you. Thierry is an independant journalist and reporter (Centifolia.com)
and maintains the "Women's
Rights" section on Fraternet (in French). See you
soon! Geoffroi du Chambon
In 2009, the international women's day will have one century
of existence. From the first female workers strikes to the
first meeting to assert their voting rights - initiating
movements for the recognition of the female gender - what
remains today? What kind of fight has to be carried out?
Finally, what message women and those which work at their
side want to give us?
The society evolves fastly while discriminations remain.
The respect and the promotion of women's rights are always
behind the times. Like human rights. Like the sleeping heart
of humanity, as well as the one of our leaders: Those leaders
who have influence on relations between people and between
genders in a way that doesn't help any one and lead in fact
to separate them. But we are free and responsible for our
own awakening, our own awareness!
Then, beyond this important day devoted to the woman in
all her identity, let us realize that the ultimate stake
is nothing less than the reconciliation between men and
women. And also the reconciliation of the humanity with
itself. We celebrate women to affirm, above all, our attachment
to the human being and its achievement.
