CHILD'S DIGNITY [06-2001] |
Child's Dignity is a no-government organisation created by
Bob Banzelyno, on the 12th of June 1999. Its mission is to protect
and reestablish the fundamental aspects of the child's identity.
Today, Bob is a lawyer and assistant at the Faculty of Rights
at the Protestant University of Congo.
Bob has put his experience, his knowledge and all his heart
at the service of children who lack their identity and therefore
their dignity. He has been coordinating this association for
two years along with Didier Kalonji (lawyer), Michel Missele
(economist), Fideline Ndaume (jurist) and Alphonse Mabika (teacher
in languages).
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, a great number of children
don't know their parents. In fact, some poor families abandon
them very quickly ; others refuse even to recognise them to
preserve the prestige of their carrier or because they simply
don't want to be accused of adultery or incest.
In all cases, those children are rejected by the society and
by their families because they are considered from unknown origins.
So they have to live in the streets without legal existence,
exposing themselves to serious dangers such as illegal adoption,
kidnapping, exploitation, prostitution or non-declared work.
Those children who lack identity and love, lose confidence in
themselves and in the society.
This is why Child's Dignity has many objectives to save those
traumatized children by :
Leading campains to register children in the civil records,
promoting the popularization of the UN convention of the Children's
Rights, helping the child to recognise and defend his rights
by assuming his identity and trying to find his parents therefore
integrating him to the society and most important to make parents
and adults think seriously about the child's dignity etc..
To succeed in realizing those objectives, the organisation :
- organises the activities of the plea.
-Creates contacts with the biological family of the abandonned
child.
-Takes in charge the legal assistance (and eventually the judiciary)
of the child whose dignity has been violated.
-Organizes different conferences, colloquiums, debates and campains
on the children's rights.
-Animates debates on television or radios.
Adresses appropriate and useful recommandations to the State
in meanings of the children's rights...etc...
Since 1998, 16 million persons, in Congo, suffer of permanant
violations of human rights.
Bob has undertaken this courageous, remarkable and essential
action to give a better future to children of his own coutry.
Bob and his team need your financial and also your moral support!
